Continue Pokemon Fire Red Rom?

How do I countinue my pokemon fire red rom after I beat the Elite 4?
Like after I go thru the credits, It loads up to start a new game. I never saved my game like on the gameboy, I always did a file save as game because it wouldnt let me start>>save on my game.
